by ethhack

The latest ransomware attack victim turns out to be global mailing and shipping service, Pitney Bowes. As confirmed by the firm itself, their systems suffered a ransomware attack which caused disruption to their services.

Pitney Bowes Suffered Ransomware Attack

In a press release issued on Monday, October 14, 2019, the global shipping and mailing company Pitney Bowes informed everyone of a ransomware attack. The tech firm also informed the users about the incident via their official Twitter account.

Alongside the Tweet, they also established a dedicated update page to keep their users aware of the situation.

As revealed, the firm faced a ransomware attack that encrypted their information and caused service disruption. According to the firm,

This system outage is affecting our mailing system products and Your Account access.

Following the attack, company officials began working to restore services. However, things have not been rectified yet. As of now, for the clients of postage meters and SendPro products, the working systems include printing indicia subject to availability of funds, and printing shipping labels via SendPro C and P devices. Also, SendPro Online (U.S), SendPro Enterprise, SendSuite Tracking Online (SSTO) and Relay Hub are functional. However, numerous other services are still not functional.

Whereas, for Mail360 and MIPro Licensing products customers, the “Your Account”, Software and Data Marketplace downloads, and some support pages are unavailable.

‘Customers Data Safe’, Assures The Firm

While the ransomware attack causes serious disruption to the company services, they still assure the safety of customers’ data.

In consultation with our security advisors on this issue, we do not believe there are other client risks. We have seen no evidence that customer accounts or data have been impacted.

They also ensure the safety of employee data as well. They are still working towards resolving the matter in consultation with third-party consultants.

Users can keep an eye on their update page to stay informed of all changes.
