What exactly is an NFT? How does Crypto work? Why should I get involved in Blockchain?

These are the questions that’ll be answered at Web3 Okanagan next week, the first tech event in the region in over two years.

As the tech industry continues to boom, this new event will bring together a wide range of local entrepreneurs and business owners to share information and knowledge on Web3, Crypto, Blockchain, NFT, and DAO.

“We want to bring together the brightest minds in the Okanagan to learn about this technology, and build a collaborative community,” said Dan Martell, co-creator of Web3 Okanagan.

“We are still in the early days and with the thriving tech community in the Okanagan I believe we can be at the leading edge of the revolution.”

Speakers will include local business owner Matt Bertulli, CEO of Pela.Earth, Lorne Sugarman, CEO of Metaverse Group Inc (Tokens.Com), Dustin Walper, CEO of Newton.co one of Canada’s largest crypto exchange, Ty Ward of Bookcoin.com one the hottest NFT projects, and MC’d by Daniel Gray, CEO of Rufflife.io.

“Web3 is a catch-all term brought on by the invention of blockchain technology – the technology that powers Bitcoin, the first cryptocurrency. From this point the term has evolved to describe a fundamental shift in how we build internet-based technologies,” said Chris Bertulli Web3 Okanagan co-creator.

“We’re aiming to teach people about these technologies, create a positive inspiring discourse, and help future business owners and industry leaders in the Okanagan and Canada capitalize on technologies like – NFT (digital property, digital IP ownership), Digital/Cryptocurrencies, Decentralized Finance (DeFi), Digital Governance (DAO’s, Tokenization of ownership, etc.”

Web3 Okanagan will be hosted at the Metro Hub on February 15th from 1 to 5 pm.

All proceeds from the event will towards supporting Metro Community, whose mission is to help those most vulnerable in Kelowna.
