This Web3 company makes games play-to-earn
Gamer Points allows gamers to add a play-and-earn aspect to their favorite games using their GP client. According to the founders–Johannes Cortez, Marv Ishida, and JC Macalintal–their client works similar to Garena and Steam, their users just run the GP client and the app automatically detects if the user is playing games, is idle, or trying to exploit the GP earning system.
Every time the user plays a game, an ad pops up which grants the users corresponding Gamer Points. These Gamer Points are points that are convertible to fiat at a 1 GP: 1$ ratio, which the founders say help Web 2 gamers be at the forefront of the play-and-earn revolution.
“Gamer Points is a company for gamers, we believe that the play-and-earn revolution which was popularized by games like Axie and Pegaxty belongs first and foremost to gamers.” Said their CEO, Johannes Cortez.
Though Gamer Points favors the OG gamers, the founders also say that they’re still introducing the technology and possibilities of Web 3 to its users by giving them another way to exchange their GP. As their CTO and co-founder Marv Ishida says, they are about to launch $GPX–Gamer Point’s native token which is expected to hit the market this year.
“What’s special about our version of play-and-earn is that it’s Web 2 gamer friendly. It takes no need for NFTs, scholarships, or managers to start playing and earning. After all, if we want to grow Web 3’s product acceptance, we have to ‘convert’ them to join the next web platform.” Said their lead developer, Aldrin Serpa Juan.
