Decentralised Ethereum scaling platform, Polygon, has hired blockchain lawyer Marc Boiron as its Chief Legal Officer, Bloomberg Law reports. Before joining Polygon, Boiron was most recently general counsel at decentralised exchange, dYdX, where he handled all things legal.
Boiron has been a blockchain & securities attorney since 2015. Prior to joining dYdX, he was a partner in the blockchain and cryptocurrency and financial services groups of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP.
His practice at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips focused on blockchain and digital assets, and his clients operate businesses across a broad range of industries that use innovative technologies to disrupt traditional businesses. He also advised venture funds on making investments in blockchain companies and digital assets.
Prior to joining Manatt, he founded and led a blockchain-focused practice at Rutan & Tucker, LLP, a California-based law firm. There, he built a practice advising companies on a breadth of issues involving digital assets, including token distributions, fund portfolio investments, exchanges, custody and mining. He also advised early-stage companies on traditional financings and crowdfunding.

In his new role, Boiron will help Polygon “build and reinforce a robust and sustainable legal and regulatory structure.” The company’s latest legal hire comes shortly after former Paul Hastings senior litigation associate, Andrew LeGolvan, joined the team in May as a senior vice president of legal.
In June, the company’s Web3 media and gaming production arm, Polygon Studios, onboarded Nicholas Snow – a former Sullivan & Cromwell associate and most recently a senior corporate counsel at Amazon – as general counsel.
