Huxley, a Web3 graphic novel series by Ben Mauro, is getting the feature film treatment! Not only that but the film project will be shepherded by executive producer and Hollywood veteran, Ari Arad. The news comes from the Web3 studio, Feature, which is partnering with Huxley to bring its amazing IP to life across different media.
Hollywood veteran Ari Arad comes on board as the Huxley film’s Executive Producer
To sum up, Huxley is an exciting universe from creator Ben Mauro. Notably, Mauro was a concept designer and art director for the iconic video game franchises, Halo and Call of Duty.
In essence, the Huxley film is just one of the media properties that are part of Mauro’s Huxley universe. For one thing, the first piece of Huxley media to launch was the Huxley graphic novel NFT. So far the first two of the six books have sold out, with 10,000 editions for each book.
And the digital/physical comics are just the start. To that end, there are plans in place for digital and physical collectibles, a video game, and of course, the Huxley feature film.
While the feature film side of Huxley is in the early stages, the addition of Ari Arad to the team is a major win for the project. To sum up, Arad is a highly successful Hollywood film producer. To list some of the films Arad has had a hand in, there’s Iron Man, Ghost Rider, and more recently, the adaptations of hit video-game franchises Uncharted and Borderlands.
The Web3 studio, Feature, announced Arad’s addition. To explain, Feature is a new Web3 studio that uses blockchain technology to empower the future of intellectual property (IP). To do this, Feature focuses on creators, franchises, and IP. Significantly, it does this across mediums including the metaverse, gaming, and traditional entertainment.
The story and background of Ben Mauro’s multi-medium world
Even though it’s a Web3 project, Ben Mauro has been working on the story and universe of Huxley for a decade. As he says on the Huxley website,
“HUXLEY is the culmination of my life’s work, my magnum opus. Taking all the skills learned from an acclaimed career, building universes and IPs for others, and creating one of my own. I’m excited to have the community involved from its genesis and to share this adventure with me.”
In short, the title character, Huxley, is a mysterious robot on a post-apocalyptic planet called Fury-7. After the planet is abandoned, humans, robots, and A.I. must fend for survival in the barren world, with the fate of humanity at stake.
All things considered, the Huxley film is the latest project using the power of Web3. We have already seen a number of creators and filmmakers utilizing NFTs and Web3 to raise funds and build excitement around their work. As a matter of fact, one such filmmaker even predicts that 2022 will be the year of film NFTs.
